Exodus Wishes

42-15625913What do you want this year? If you are honest, what is on the top of your list? If you could make a wish, any wish and you knew it would come true, what would it be?

As the folks here at Exodus are preparing for and participating in the holidays, we are asking ourselves these questions. And while some of the wishes are obvious and could tend to be rather material, when we get down to the heart of it all, our answer isn’t money. It isn’t even to have more business. This year our wish is for you- to have a beautiful holiday season. We wish for less stress and more quality time. We wish for beautiful moments and happy memories of community involvement. We wish for all of us to find what is actually important this year.

Instead of just changing your address this year, why not change your perspective. At Exodus we specialize in peace of mind and would like to work towards peace on earth. The most important aspects of who we are as a company are wrapped up in our commitment to people: our staff, our customers and our community.

So in the midst of the stress, the events, the gift giving and all the things that make the season something to juggle, remember what its all about. Regardless of your take on it, your religious or political opinions, no matter where you come from or where you have been, in the true spirit of the season we would like to wish you peace and love during this holiday. May your days be merry and bright!

Love, Exodus.

Moving Tip #35

RF250522There are a lot of administrative items to take care of when you move. Remember to cancel your utilities, change your address with the post office, and contact your friends, family, work, creditors, insurance providers, along with any subscriptions about your change of location. We suggest setting these changes up at least 3 weeks before your move date in order to insure that no important notifications are misplaced and no additional fees are charged.

Bills Bills Bills…

When you are moving both in and out of a place, the dealings with bills is a very important step in your transition. Making sure that you first of all, take the bill out of your name, and then second put all of your new bills in your name is essential for a smooth transition in and out of your new and old place.  In case you need a reminder, here is a list of the bills that you will both need to cancel from your old house and put in your name at your new one.

Cable

Trash

Phone (landline)

Internet

Landscape/Lawn

There are other bills that you have that will not change with your move, but will need some information so that they are able to reach you and send information or their products.  It can be as simple as going online and changing your address information, however there are a number of companies that require you to call in and speak to a representative. Always check online first as it can eliminate long waiting times on thee phone and racking up your phone bill.

Bills that you will keep, but need to get a change of address

Netflix (delivery movie service)

Credit Cards

A great resource for checking in on all of the rule.

2. Change of Address

Not only do you want your magazine subscriptions but you need all of your important mail forwarded to your new home as soon as possible! Get that change of address in from the nearest Post Office,  or here online

3. Register to Vote

Whether you are a political nut or not, being able to vote on an election or issues that matter to you are essential for getting involved in your community. Check out this site to vote on important issues in your new community
