Moving to Denver: The Urban Farm

Every once in a while, a non-profit really stands out from the crowd. While all non-profits are doing something amazing simply by existing, The Urban Farm in Denver, Colorado, is worth a moment or two of your time. This farm teaches agriculture to inner-city kids, and shows kids that don’t get much outdoor exposure that faming can happen in urban places too.

About The Urban Farm

This farm was originally started as a horse farm, but it had the same intent – to show inner-city kids a bit about farm life. The horse farm eventually morphed into The Urban Farm, and now the folks that run this non-profit are focused on teaching those same kids the importance of farming. Not only is it important to teach children (and adults, really) how to grow their own food (and where food comes from), this farm also gives kids a chance to explore a working farm, work the land, and see that farming in an urban setting is entirely possible.

The Urban Farm also hosts birthday parties for kids, if you happen to be moving to Denver with your kids and you want a great idea or two! If you know of a child or children that could benefit from a farm experience, make sure to check out The Urban Farm’s website. There’s so much space and open air in Colorado, and even urban centers can embrace the culture that comes with living in this state. It is possible to farm in the city, and that’s what The Urban Farm is teaching, in addition to letting kids get some fresh air!

Wonderful Colorado

Colorado is full of amazing projects and programs like The Urban Farm. With all of the space that’s available in Colorado, it’s easy to see why non-profits like this one want to incorporate more of the outdoor life into everyday life – even inner-city life. That’s just the kind of pace that Colorado moves at, and it’s one that we love – and we know that you are going to love. Denver is just one place where lots of amazing things are happening in this state. There are lots of non-profits and organizations all over the state, and that means that there’s plenty of opportunities for anyone moving to Denver, or anywhere else in the state to jump in and help out, take advantage of programs like this one, or start up a new non-profit.

Colorado has been called out in various magazines for being a great state to start a new business in, and that fact applies to charities and organizations as well. The people of Colorado are open to new ideas and anything that helps a community out, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re aiming to work in the non-profit sector, or are seeking to start something that will benefit a community here large or small. In short, Colorado is full of opportunities!
