Our very favorite thing about being a preferred Colorado moving company is the amazing people we meet and the interesting places are able to take them to. Recently, we had the opportunity to see a bit more of this big beautiful country of ours during yet another of many interstate moves. And so in honor of their move and in appreciation for their trusting us with it, we would like to tell you a little bit about one of the safest metropolitan areas to live and work in in the United States of America, State College PA.
A City Called College?
While State College Pennsylvania is the home of Penn State University, it is actually a separate metropolitan area. The largest borough in Centre County, it is home to over 40,000 residents. This once small village originally founded in 1855, has evolved over the years to accommodate the growth of its main focal point, the University. This somewhat intertwined identity often has people believing that the place and the school are one in the same while they have been and continue to be separate but supportive entities.
State College PA is often referred to as “Happy Valley” by outsiders and residents alike. Perhaps this is because of its continuing ability to rank in the top 5 safest places to live, or maybe it’s because it has been named one of the least stressful places to live in all the United States. It continually appears favorably on quality of life studies as a great place to live and or start a business. With a high population of singles and students, this metro seems to be just bursting with energy, innovation and possibility. Whether you like boating, dinning, mountain biking, fly fishing or just want to take advantage of excellent shopping, this city will keep you busy. Known for its live music scene, several galleries featuring local artists as well as a plethora a Penn State sporting events year round, no one is ever at a loss for entertainment. A great place to visit, State College is also a great place to move to.
At Exodus we take partnerships with people seriously. One of our proudest positions is our place in our community. Because our customers are our number one priority, it’s no wonder that we are a preferred mover in Colorado and beyond. Our company functions like a family. And with offices in both Fort Collins and Denver, we take care to get involved in the neighborhoods in which we serve. This includes creating alliances and associations with other organizations who are doing good to make our home a better place. This week we would like to highlight two such organizations that are doing their part to improve conditions in Northern Colorado.
Northern Colorado Renewable Energy Society
The NCRES is a non-profit membership organization that is committed to educating both businesses and consumers about energy efficiency technology. As a chapter of the larger Colorado Renewable Energy Society, NCRES holds various presentations and tours with the mission of increasing community knowledge about the importance of creating cost effective and sustainable solutions for business and life. For information about up and coming events or for a calendar of regular meetings check out their site:
The International Facility Management Association of Northern Colorado
Facility Management is the art and science of creating an efficient office. It uses architectural design, behavioral and engineering sciences and administrative aspects to blend an actual workspace with the people that work in it and the work that they do. In 1980 the International Facility Management Association was founded to support this endeavor. It now has almost 20,000 members spanning over 50 countries.
In an effort to support this organization the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the IFMA was established in 1989. It currently maintains a diverse membership and aids in the support, education and professional development of its community. This chapter serves Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming. Because moving is such a big deal in your life it is also a big business. And over time it has developed a vocabulary all of its own. It’s important when planning a move and selecting a moving company to help you that you understand the rules of the game. The words being used to describe your process can become vitally important when doing preliminary research and especially when negotiating contracts. The following are some of the key terms used to describe the people and companies you will be encountering throughout the moving process.
Agent. While this term is a common one, when used in the context of moving it has a very specific meaning. An agent is a local moving company that is authorized to act on behalf of larger national another company. It is important to pay attention when dealing with this type of professional intermediary to insure that nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
Broker. A broker is a company or individual that organizes the hiring of a moving company. This type of business is quite popular on the internet. Many customers find a company on the internet and hire them, believing that it is a direct hire. In reality they have actually hired a broker who then goes on to bid out the actual work. The major draw back with this is in the chain of responsibility. While hiring a broker takes the search off your hands, it can also make the accountability unclear. If something goes wrong with the move, often the broker and moving company blame each other and no one takes responsibility. As a result of a sincere lack of laws to regulate this particular part of the industry, sometimes legal liability becomes unenforceable. We recommend hiring moving help directly and avoiding the use of brokers.
Carrier. This is another common term that has a specific meaning with regard to moving. But the definition in this context is very simple. A carrier is the moving company that is actually physically relocating your belongings.
Yes. It was Cold.
We have some exciting news that we would like to share with you!
Both Jake Atchison and Ilan Levy with Exodus Moving just received their AMSA and CMC Certifications! AMSA is the American Moving and Storage Association and the CMC test is to become a Certified Moving Consultant. This test requires months of studying and a written exam and both Jake and Illan passed it with flying colors! We are so proud of all their hard work! Not to mention how special they are to be 2 of the few CMC certified individuals. There are only 4 other CMC certified individuals in the whole state of Colorado! WOW! Now that’s impressive! 🙂
In your search for a quality moving company, you will unfortunately have to sift through many movers who are unqualified, uncertified, and, worse, may put your belongings in danger of being damaged or stolen. However, with us, you will never be just another move. Ever. Count on our expertise and trustworthiness because not only are we good at what we do… We love what we do!
We are here to make your life a little bit easier. Okay, a lot easier. We work hard for customer satisfaction; one of our main and most important goals is to win your heart by taking care of the nitty gritty that comes along with moving. Along with that, the only way we are ever going to know if we are meeting our expectations with our customers is to hear directly from them… directly from you. Your voice is extremely important to us and we hope that we have created and maintained a place where your voice can be heard. We want to stay connected! So, whether you are a potential customer, a loyal customer, interested in using us someday or somehow just stumbled across our website, we want to hear what you think! Please feel free to contact us!
Toll Free: 1-800-549-1488
When you contact Exodus, we’ll answer any questions you have about the type of move you’re facing, the kind of equipment and trucks we use, availability of used boxes, valuation options and references from our satisfied clients…and much more.
From the moment you decide to move all the way until the day you are settled in your new destination, we are here for you, near far, wherever you are! We take pride in being an independent company and not becoming an agent of large anonymous van line. We also take pride in the name we have received as being one of the best moving companies in Northern Colorado as well as being locally owned. However, don’t be fooled to think that just because we represent Northern Colorado movers that we do not do nationwide moves. In fact, just recently, we unloaded a truck in Portland, OR which was then headed to Edgewood, WA then off to sin city, Las Vegas, NV before ever returning to Colorado. We are constantly loading trucks and sending them to different places for different people and different reasons.
Let’s just put it this way, our trucks get around… In a good way of course! Whether you are moving to Colorado or relocating from Colorado, we want to be your nationwide expert movers. So, sit back and relax, just tell us when and where and we will take care of the rest. Trust us to take care of you.
