Back to School: Exodus and the UNCAA

As Colorado’s premier local and long distance moving and storage company, at Exodus, we believe the best part of being in the neighborhood are the opportunities to make it a better place.  Whether it is donating trucks to help out with the food drives of several Colorado food banks, investing in at-risk youth by helping out groups such as Alternatives to Violence and Reflections for Youth, keeping tune with the Fort Collins Symphony, or helping to support the families of fallen Colorado soldiers through the SEAKR Foundation, our Colorado community roots stretch as far and wide as the highways we travel.

One of our latest community partnerships has us teaming up with the University of Northern Colorado Alumni Association by offering savings to its members and proceeds to the association. We are looking forward to delivering a check once a month representing 3% of the paid moving costs from UNC Alumni Association members on any local move, long distance move and auto transport.

At Exodus, we have an impeccable reputation for safe, smooth and reliable moves, demonstrated by the fact that we have one of the lowest breakage ratios of any moving company in Colorado. Despite this distinction, in addition to proceed donation, we are also offering Half Cost Valuation on lower deductible options. This will include Free Valuation Coverage of $100,000 with a $500 deductible, representing a savings of nearly 25%.

The University of Northern Colorado has been teaching Colorado a thing or two for decades through its many distinguished alumni who have won awards for their work in the classroom and through its influential Tointon Institute for Educational Change.  The UNC Alumni Association ably helps to integrate over 100,000 alumni, students, and friends into the life of the university and the community at large and we are proud to help in any way we can. That is why we are looking forward to the UNC Alumni enrolling Exodus for their moving and storage needs.  It’s a back to school deal for the UNC Alumni Association members and another lesson in helping out the community for us.  Who knew having class could be so much fun!

The Exodus Difference is People

Who we are and what we do are one in the same. There are a lot of companies out there that claim to provide quality. They claim that customer satisfaction means everything to them. And that may be true even and especially when it comes to the bottom line. But at Exodus, people are the single most important thing in our business.  And that applies all around, to our employees, our clients and our community. We put our money, time, effort and heart into the things that matter most to us. And that is what makes us better than any other Colorado Moving Company. The Exodus difference is people.

We Choose People

Exodus is a Choose People company. This means that we pass the test and come out on top as a great place to work. We work hard, we play hard and we value family and balance. Unlike many others in our industry, we have real employees doing all our moves providing unequalled accountability in our market sector. We provide consistent schedules, family friendly offices and competitive salaries making our employee turnover rate lower than any other Denver moving company. We firmly believe that happy employees are better workers, parents and citizens at large. For this reason, the Exodus difference starts with our people.

People Choose Us

We are constantly in a state of collecting feedback from our customers. Moving is one of the most stressful times in anyone’s life. We strive and work hard to go the extra mile to make it easier, less hectic and to create a sort of calm in the storm for our clients. Thanks to this commitment to service, our track record is pristine. Our client surveys come back consistently with glowing recommendations and most of our clients go on to recommend our moving services to family and friends.

Community Exodus

Whether it is pianos that need moving for art projects (Pianos About Town) underprivileged teens that need dresses for Prom (The Fairy Godmother Project) a race that needs run to donate supplies to school kids (The Denver Metro Mile benefiting Donors Choose) or our own in house tree planting for every move we complete (in cooperation with Trees, Water & People), we are committed to being involved in the neighborhood around us. We love Colorado, we love our country and we love our world. At Exodus, we show value to our community by not only showing up when they need us most but by finding creative ways to be involved, everyday.

The Hampton Inn & Suites and Exodus Partner Spotlight

In a continuing effort to strengthen our community and support our clients in the process of relocation, we are proud to announce a new Frequent Guest Program established with the Hampton Inn & Suites at Cherry Creek. A discounted rate in this lovely hotel located in the city of Glendale is just one of many extra things we build into our comprehensive moving services.

The following is from an interview we did with Debra Brandt talking about this new partner spotlight between her hotel and Exodus.

Tell us a little bit about YOU and Hampton.

I am the director of sales here at the Glendale/Cherry Creek Property. Karie Green is the sales manager and together we make up the sales team for this location. I have been at this property for about a year and with the Hampton chain for 4 years. Personally, I love the hotel environment. The relationships you make and the rapport you create with frequent guests, I just love working with people in customer service. I also like the brand because it is nationally recognized. We have a very loyal customer base and Hilton does a great job with the HHonors awards program which brings in lots of people. You can tell it’s a great place to work by our low employee turnover. One of our front office managers has been here for 7 years which in the hotel industry is a long time.

What sets your Glendale/Cherry Creek Property apart from other hotels?

We are set apart by two things: amenities and service. We are an all suite property.   This means by enlarge our rooms are more spacious and have more amenities. We have 133 rooms, fitness facilities and board room space for meetings and conferences.

Although we offer many amenities at our hotel, we are what is considered a “limited hotel” because we do not have a restaurant or bar on site. But there are a couple of things that we do offer that are unique, one of which is our complimentary hot breakfast buffet. We provide a variety to choose from including fresh coffee, juice, eggs an assortment of pastries and much more, everyday. We also offer breakfast to-go bags for those who don’t have time in the morning as we want everyone to be able to take advantage of this great service.

We also have what we call a “Suite Shop”, which is a convenience store in our lobby filled with nic nacs such as Advil, toothbrushes , gum, teas, Red Bull and soups. We stock Ben & Jerry’s for those late night cravings and since all the rooms have microwaves and mini-refrigerators, we stock a variety of gourmet microwave dinners. I think this is really great feature because it makes people feel cozy.

These are just some of the amenities that set us apart and help us to take care of large groups. This is also a very popular place for both business travelers and families. But our customer service is what keeps people coming back. We are proud to host lots of repeat customers because we work hard to attentively address their every need.

We also like being on Colorado Blvd with easy access to downtown and the Cherry Creek Mall. We are walking distance to so much! We are right next to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, a Whole Foods Market, several restaurants and other shops. Also, downtown is just 7 minutes away.

How are the Hampton Inn and Suites & Exodus Moving and Storage Connected?

Joel and Ryan met at a Glendale Chamber event and from what I understand, they instantly liked one another. They felt like it could be a good fit to help each other. Joel was looking for a good corporate rate for those who need lodging in transition. He expressed that many of his clients are in between homes for short periods of time while moving and he wanted to be able to offer them a great place to stay at a great price. So we are just beginning this alliance. We believe that good companies should stick together and because we are so focused on taking care of all the details for our clients, Exodus seemed like a good fit. We created a discount rate for all those affiliated with Exodus Moving and Storage. This includes relocating clients, Exodus employees and of course their family members. We want to support anyone connected to Exodus by giving them a fantastic place to stay at a great rate.

Do you have any current events or promotions that you are especially excited about?

Right now we are gearing up for the Microsoft 2011 Convention. All their workshops will take place at the Colorado Convention Center. Because Cherry Creek is so close by, we are completely sold out for that entire week. Other than that, our company is always running great packages and specials. Some of them are very imaginative like the Cherry Creek Shopping Package or the Mile High Package. But in general, right now we are in the midst of “high season” so it’s a great time at the hotel. We always have good people and interesting stuff going on. That’s why it’s such a great place to stay and work.

Mark Kruse &Exodus Partner Spotlight (Part 2)

In continuing with our partner spotlight, the following is from an interview we recently did with Mark Kruse explaining why he recommends Exodus Moving and Storage to all his clients.

What are the top things you look for in a Moving Company?

1)      Reliability

2)     Insurance- Safety

3)     Services Offered- distance/storage

4)     References

I usually find that people are worried that their things will be broken during a move. I had a client hire “random other movers” that had offered them a good rate. They told me that in the middle of the move the moving company actually held the clients belongings for ransom on the truck and tried to re-negotiate the contract before unloading. Another client hired a company that only got ¾ of their stuff across country. The client had gotten a cheap bid and taken it, only to find that the most valuable things such as art and antiques were never delivered.

I recommend Exodus because I know them so well. I really trust them and the work they do. They are easy to refer because I get so much positive feedback from my clients who use them which constantly turns out to be a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Why do you & Exodus Moving and Storage complement each other?

I feel that there are two things that set me apart as a realtor: my commitment to education and my extensive network of fantastic business referrals. I am huge into education. I want my clients who have already bought 7 other homes before to turn to me after buying one with my help and say “wow, no one has ever explained this to me so well.” I love informing and empowering people by making them understand the process. I enjoy giving useful neighborhood statistics, outlining the buying/selling process and answering questions anytime and every time.  I truly believe there are no stupid questions. In this way people and their experience during the buying/selling is my main focus.

Exodus is also totally committed to people, which is why we work so well together.  In my business, personal recommendations mean everything. I get phone calls about Exodus all the time.  Joel comes over to provide an estimate and from then on everyone just raves about the entire process. They say things like, “Exodus did everything they said they would and made it all so easy.”

I had a client whose house was expected to sell in May or June during which time we were also expecting for her New Build Home to be completed. Instead, her property sold in April. She was concerned about beginning the move ASAP but continuing to have access to her stuff as she had 2 children under the age of 5. At my suggestion, she called Exodus and they came over to pick up the boxes she needed to store but didn’t want to move yet. They kept it all for her until they moved her into her newly finished home. She was so thankful for the great service, dependability and help that she has already recommended Exodus to a few of her friends.

I feel that the work I do is complimented by the work of Exodus Moving and Storage. Together we represent a full service, comprehensive purchase/sale & relocation experience.

At Exodus, we are proud to say that the feeling  is very mutual! For more information about the fantastic work Mark does please visit his website at:

Repeat Customers- The Secret to Exodus Success

There is a reason we receive glowing recommendations from our customers over and over again. Not only do we care more about the little things during your move but we work harder to ensure that everything goes smoothly. Nobody likes moving. Regardless of the reason for the relocation, it is almost always a stress ridden process. But at Exodus, we take great pride in being the ones you can depend on from start to finish.

Complete Estimates

When we send someone to your home to do an estimate, we send a trained professional. A person with the right amount of experience knows what to look for, the right questions to ask and the kinds of things that should be considered. Every move is different which is why we focus on customized quotes that are comprehensive, personal and surprise free.

Teamwork & Positive Attitude

In the moving industry, it is common for large companies to outsource labor. This can help them to manage costs but can have an extremely negative effect on quality. Because our employees are on staff, we know them well. This creates accountability that is virtually unequalled in other moving and storage companies. They are trained by us and they know how to work together. We operate our business as a family and in turn our employees work together to make your move easier. We support them so that they can support you. And because we provide a happy place to work we find that the positive attitude spreads.

Work Ethic

Our hiring process is rigorous. We consider the background and future goals of every employee we select to represent us. Often, we hire ex-military because of their capacity for hard work. But as a general rule, we maintain extremely high standards when it comes to finding people that share our belief that hard work is a) important and b) should be rewarded. We believe in reciprocity and we employ those who think that any job worth doing should be done right.

Document Storage and HIPPA

AAFJ001047With so many opinions, regulations and general paranoia’s about document storage around these days, it can be hard to know what to do. The term compliance can strike fear in the hearts of many, regardless of their industry. But specifically, the health care and financial industries seem to have it the hardest when it comes to backing up their data and creating a world of systems that insures proper maintenance and availability.

At Exodus, we understand that it is not only important to follow the law but to design an organized and efficient world for yourself, your employees and your customers. In most cases, it is advised to have both an archived electronic version of confidential records as well as a physical copy. And as a general rule, it is suggested for both space and security to store these physical documents separately from the place where the work is being done. For this reason we offer constantly monitored, totally secured, climate controlled storage for all your professional document storage needs.

Non compliance is a serious issue and can level some pretty serious fees. In order to avoid this type of legal breakdown its important to ask yourself the following questions:

Do you have tried and tested policies in place for data storage?

What is your current system to protect confidential information such as client and human resource files?

How do you insure that your documents are well maintained and not easily compromised?

If a legal situation occurred would you be able to provide the complete information needed quickly?

The Law: HIPPA is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was passed in 1996. This privacy policy mandates how personal health information must be collected, handled and stored.

Who it’s for: HIPPA effects companies and individuals alike but specifically requires health care services to carefully monitor the way they transmit confidential information between sources and carriers.

Storage Guidelines: HIPPA requires that organizations retain long term patient information and records in a secure environment with limited access in an offsite location.

Noncompliance Penalty: Every state is different but disregarding this act and the provisions therein could produce fines of up to $250k per incident and up to 10 years in prison.

Happy Clients are Our Reason

A few days ago, we received a comment card from one of our valued customers. And while this is not unique as we are in a constant state of collecting feedback in order to improve our business overall, we are always interested to see what comes back. Every day, with every customer we strive to do our best. We pay attention to every detail of the planning and execution of their move and we provide safe and secure storage for the extra things they can’t take along.

At Exodus, we are consistently involved in improving our community and in taking care of our employees. These values combined with our unmatched work ethic and core value of integrity make us an industry leader when it comes to Colorado moving and storage and beyond. During this often hectic and somewhat vulnerable time in our clients’ lives, we are passionate about relieving the stress. And because of this commitment, we want to know how they found each part of our service.

Estimator: We send a moving expert to your home or office to do a comprehensive accounting of what, how and where everything needs to be moved. With so much experience in the field and with honesty as our guiding professional policy, we don’t not under quote and we are careful to ask the right questions to make sure that there are no surprises.

Office Staff: Scheduling a move and filling out the corresponding paperwork can be a hassle if you don’t have the right team on your side. At Exodus, our administrative employees are detailed, helpful and proactive.

Overall Cost/Value: The old adage, “You get what you pay for,” is sometimes true. But we don’t believe that is any reason to gouge people. We consistently offer excellent service at fair prices.

Moving Crew: In our customer surveys we inquire about three main areas with reference to our moving crew. We ask if they are friendly/pleasant, about their work ethic/efficiency and for our customers overall impression of the crew itself.  We realize that your things, whether in your home or business are valuable to you. For this reason and others we never outsource movers but rather send full-fledged employees to complete your move. We train them to work excellently, to work hard and to show you the kindness and respect that you deserve as one of our customers.

Safe and Complete Office Moving

42-17157888When the announcement is made in a company of impending corporate relocation, most people instantly feel the stress. From the bottom of the ranks all the way to the top, the pressure can be felt. Questions about how best to handle the organization and the packing and how much downtime for the business will be involved begin to swirl around the workplace. How will things change? What kind of new space will be in once it’s complete? Will everything make it from point A to point B in one piece?

Time

Hiring a professional mover is a vital part of moving any office, big or small. There are main core values that are the reason for this: time and money. By hiring a professional company you can minimize your use of human capital to accomplish the move. Professional office movers can streamline the planning of even the most complex office move, keeping valued employees with their head in the game of the business as opposed to putting energy toward a move. And if your moving company specializes in offices moves like Exodus does, they can move you in the evening after the work day has ended and everything will be all set to start business the next day. Getting things done right and fast saves time.

Money

But how could hiring a moving company save you money? While this idea may seem at first blush a bit counter intuitive, when looked at, it becomes obvious. Broken, damaged and destroyed office equipment can happen in moves with “non-experts”. Also when dealing with issues such as expensive IT equipment and complex set ups and cable networking, it can be very expensive to repair damage done by an improper install. Another way that hiring a moving company can exponentially improve a corporate relocation experience is through minimal downtime, offering the opportunity to get back to the business of doing business sooner.

The Exodus Difference

At Exodus we specialize in office moves and corporate relocation. We offer the expertise that other moving companies don’t. With things like specially designed anti electromagnetic bags and shrink-wrap that we use to package everything in the office on site from monitors to drawers, we insure that no dust or water can get in and no items of value can get out. We are incredibly thorough in our packing and unpacking. And perhaps most importantly, our employees are our employees, not outsourced day laborers. This makes them both well trained and able to take true ownership and responsibility for your move. With care and expertise, we specialize in not only saving time and money for our clients but in creating a true sense of peace of mind.

Exodus Moving Estimates

At Exodus Moving and Storage we always put our best foot forward. From the very start of our relationship with our customers we are committed to exemplary communication. Studies show that moving can be one of the single most stressful events of your life. Once the decision is made the countdown begins. The details, logistics and emotions come in. And before you know it, the day arrives for your actual relocation.

But we believe that if you choose the right people to have on your side it can make all the difference in your moving experience and even in your life. We take care to complete totally comprehensive quotes for your move every time. Our highly trained staff asks the right questions and is totally happy to come to your home to survey everything you want to move and give you a detailed quote, in plain language that you can actually understand. The following is an outline of the basic process that we go through in order to get your move off on the right foot.

We Show Up

There is a big difference between getting a ballpark figure based on a customer’s description of their move over the phone and giving a firm quote. Any company that gives a firm quote without actually surveying exactly what you need moved is not a reliable option as a professional mover. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, all reputable movers should furnish written estimates only after looking at your belongings or goods to be moved. At Exodus, it’s our pleasure to come out and get to know you and your move before we move you.

Moving Coordinator

One of the most important things when doing any job in an efficient manor is accountability. At Exodus, even though we are a growing company with extensive professional moving and storage capabilities, we work to maintain our individualized sense of service. To this end, each and every move that we do is assigned its own Moving Coordinator. This is the contact person available for communication from the very beginning of the process all the way to the end.

Comprehensive Quoting

A quote should include many different components. We pay special attention to the details and attempt to include everything including movers needed, vans and fuel, estimated distance, weight of belongings, packing charges, valuation and extra stops. We excel at the anticipation of every last detail so there will be no surprises. We are happy to show up at your home, do a comprehensive quote using an iPad and then email it to you before we leave. This way you can have it in your inbox for review faster to aid in your decision making process. We know that once you have a quality professional mover on your side, you can hand over at least some of the worry. And that’s our main goal, to do everything we can to promote peace of mind, every time.

Valuing Feedback

After every move Exodus Moving & Storage completes, we will request your input about your moving experience with us. Continuous improvement is the hallmark of our success as a company and we are always anxious to get your feedback on how well we did our moving job.

Competitive and Accurate Estimates

The Cost of relocation is either based on weight or number of men and trucks needed as well as distance traveling. At no charge to you, one of our experienced and courteous Move Coordinators will review their move in great detail and provide you with an accurate move quote. Our Move Coordinator will also confirm requested pick-up and delivery dates.
