Exodus and the Board of Realtors

As both a concerned and involved member of our neighborhoods as well as a leader in the moving and storage industry at large, we are proud to forge alliances in the community. One such cooperation comes from the obvious mutual interest between those who sell homes and offices and those who move into them. We wanted to get involved with the parts of the communities we serve that are helping our clients to become stronger and more stable in their relocation efforts. And the organizations that work to support integrity and the fluidity of this growth are our spotlight for today. Exodus is grateful to be affiliated with several Board of Realtor groups in our fine home state of Colorado.

The TEST in Testimonials

At Exodus we move people. It’s our job and our pleasure. It’s the reason we get up in the morning, to do good work. It is clear to us that we simply can’t overstate this- our commitment to being the best Moving and Storage Company in Colorado. We give honest quotes to our customers and fair treatment to our employees. We work hard to earn the respect of the community. And this comes from the very top all the way down to the bottom so that everyone can feel the momentum. We spend our days moving the people who trust us with their possessions, the companies that trust us with their equipment and the customers that allow us to be a part of their lives.

We accomplish all kinds of moves and store for all types of clients. Handling residential moves with care and precision and handling commercial moves with professional expertise and planning, we have the opportunity to come in contact with a lot of people. Every time we receive a comment card we carefully and anxiously read it. How did we do? How did our customer feel? Did we help to minimize the stress during a time that is notoriously full of hassle and frustration? Did we make the difference we so earnestly want to make?

Fresh Place Fridays- Spotlight on Colorado Springs

Getting to know the great state in which we live and work is important to us. As Colorado’s premier moving and storage company and one of the most trusted locally owned companies in the industry, we take pride in our surroundings. We enjoy getting to know the locals as well as moving our customers from areas we know and love into areas that we are interested in knowing more about.

Currently, Exodus has offices and storage facilities in both Fort Collins and Denver. For the most part, this holds up what is considered the Northern Colorado portion of the state map. But in an effort to educate others and to highlight other fascinating places, this week we would like to showcase another wonderful city within our state lines. This Fresh Place Friday is dedicated to the city of Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs History and Location

Colorado Springs is located in what is considered to be the South Central part of Central Colorado just over 60 miles south of Denver. The township was originally established in 1871 and was designed to be the first stop on a new Denver & Rio Grande Railroad route from Denver to Mexico City. Its founder, William Jackson Palmer, created Colorado Springs to be a mini resort town, a tourist destination of sorts. And by the end of the 19th century, he had accomplished just that.

Today Colorado Springs is one of the largest cities in El Paso County. Situated near Pikes Peak, this township is more than a mile high at an altitude of 6,035 feet and is the second most populous city in all of Colorado. Boasting a mild climate as a result of its close proximity to the Rocky Mountains, the city is a fantastic location for both vacationing and living.

The People and Culture

Brimming with life and art and opportunity, there are many reasons why Colorado Springs is such a popular place to live in Colorado. Fashion fairs, health events and cultural exhibitions abound including award winning Conservatory Theater and countless community based drives, dinners and donation opportunities in addition to fascinating museum offerings. Whether you are seeking family events, excellent dining or live performances, original calendar events are in constant development in “The Springs”. With its large military community as home to the prestigious United States Air force Academy , Colorado Springs boasts a historical Native American population, several Olympic sport teams and a thriving high-tech industry. With this type of diversity of opportunity and population, it’s no wonder this city is such a popular destination.

At Exodus we are proud to move people to and from Colorado Springs for both residential and commercial moves.

Happy Clients are Our Reason

A few days ago, we received a comment card from one of our valued customers. And while this is not unique as we are in a constant state of collecting feedback in order to improve our business overall, we are always interested to see what comes back. Every day, with every customer we strive to do our best. We pay attention to every detail of the planning and execution of their move and we provide safe and secure storage for the extra things they can’t take along.

At Exodus, we are consistently involved in improving our community and in taking care of our employees. These values combined with our unmatched work ethic and core value of integrity make us an industry leader when it comes to Colorado moving and storage and beyond. During this often hectic and somewhat vulnerable time in our clients’ lives, we are passionate about relieving the stress. And because of this commitment, we want to know how they found each part of our service.

Estimator: We send a moving expert to your home or office to do a comprehensive accounting of what, how and where everything needs to be moved. With so much experience in the field and with honesty as our guiding professional policy, we don’t not under quote and we are careful to ask the right questions to make sure that there are no surprises.

Office Staff: Scheduling a move and filling out the corresponding paperwork can be a hassle if you don’t have the right team on your side. At Exodus, our administrative employees are detailed, helpful and proactive.

Overall Cost/Value: The old adage, “You get what you pay for,” is sometimes true. But we don’t believe that is any reason to gouge people. We consistently offer excellent service at fair prices.

Moving Crew: In our customer surveys we inquire about three main areas with reference to our moving crew. We ask if they are friendly/pleasant, about their work ethic/efficiency and for our customers overall impression of the crew itself.  We realize that your things, whether in your home or business are valuable to you. For this reason and others we never outsource movers but rather send full-fledged employees to complete your move. We train them to work excellently, to work hard and to show you the kindness and respect that you deserve as one of our customers.

Exodus Past, Present and Future

At Exodus, our employees are hardworking, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. We stand for quality and excellence in everything we do. From packing services to relocating to totally secured storage, we are committed to our customers and to the integrity of our operation. When our COO, Joel Coen met up with the city in his most recent interview, he was able to share a bit of insight about where we come from and how/why we do what we do. The following are extended excerpts from this session.

Exodus History in Colorado

Ilan Levy began moving furniture in New York City with a plan that it would set the course for his future in Northern Colorado. In 1996, Levy relocated to Northern Colorado, where he started Exodus Moving and Storage. His one truck operation at the time has grown to a fleet of 20 trucks in Northern Colorado. Today Colorado is our home and for that reason we continue to focus on it as our main hub from which to move and store. Our staff is very happy to live and work in this great state. With the varied terrain and mostly sun filled skies, Colorado is a year round pleasure even in the winter. As we grow we will think about expanding into other states but for now we are thrilled to be a premier Colorado Moving and Storage Company.

Exodus & Social Media

We believe that social media and the Internet are powerful tools for the consumer. They provide customers with both vital and timely information on all sorts of topics. Finding message boards that are very active create good chances that someone will respond quickly with good information. Before social media most people found out who the good businesses were through traditional word of mouth. If you were looking for a good business you would just ask around and spread the word. Now people can go online and read all about it through online evaluations from their peers. We are happy that there is a ton of info online about Exodus Moving and Storage, and that it is all pointing to us in a positive light of glowing recommendations from happy customers.

Words to Work By

When asked what the best business advice that I had ever received in my life was, the question really got to me. But when I thought about it, the answer was a simple statement “the truth will set you free.” Telling the truth has allowed me to behave with integrity; to show up in an honest and forthright way and it’s the guiding principal that impacts the way we do business at Exodus. ~Joel Coen

Joel Coens Interview with Commerce City

As mentioned in our previous posting, in the beginning of February Exodus Moving and Storage had the privilege of meeting up with key members of the Commerce City leadership team to talk about our recent move to the area. With our new Denver Metro address within their city borders, there was much to discuss with regard to the progress of both the area and the community. Specifically in an effort to positively affect economic development, our very own Joel Coen was asked a series of questions about Exodus and how we do business. The following are excerpts from this interview explaining exactly where we stand.

The Problem with the Moving Industry

When people think of movers and storage space, they tend to think of low income jobs. They think movers are uneducated, dishonest and cannot get another job. At Exodus we hire hard working, honest and forthright good people that are out to earn an honest living. We deliver to our customers the very best staff possible. Other factors play a part as well, such as social media, it is time sensitive and allows us to listen to satisfied customers and it continually challenges our team to deliver best.

Exodus Certification

When it comes to moving, experience counts, but so does a being a certified moving consultant (CMC). Ilan (our CEO) is helping drive the company forward by focusing on good recruitment and is determined to focus on the growth and development of existing employees. He has earned a certified moving consultant certificate. By promoting continuing education and ethical sales practices, Ilan and his team provide accurate quotes and accurate rates. So estimating the best possible moving costs will deliver improved customer experience and no surprises.

The Exodus Difference

Exodus success in the moving industry is based upon a devotion to providing the best moving services that exceed customers’ expectations. We achieve this through hiring the right people. Exodus has stringent hiring practices including background and drug tests. Our staff members are well trained. We move everything ourselves, and we do not sub-contract out the job.

Exodus in Commerce City

Commerce City had a state-of-art facility at a good rate. We all want a good place to live and play while we are working which is why most of our leadership staff lives here. We are a great benefit to the community and we take pride in contributing positively to the community.

Happy Employees = Happy Customers

This week we have been highlighting our latest national recognition for employee satisfaction as a Choose People certified Company. You will find their logo proudly placed next to our other affiliations including the Better Business Bureau. We have seen the value of treating our employees like family since the very beginning and are happy to make our offices a family friendly place where our staff can bring their children and can easily organize both family vacations and work with us to provide time when unexpected events come up. These are just a few of the ways that our management seeks to create a comfortable environment of trust and a feeling of safety within our ranks.

But the main benefit that Exodus receives from our happy employees is their impact with both our customers and our community. The simple truth is that goodwill spreads and happiness and fulfillment generally multiplies itself. We know that taking fantastic care of our staff is a major focus for us every day. And when we receive so many positive customer reviews on a regular basis, it continually confirms that our priorities are in the right place and that the good we represent and uphold is being experienced by those we serve in the field during what is often a very stressful time in their lives. We are proud to deliver peace of mind by way of excellent service through our amazing employees.

Exodus Hires Community Patriots

At Exodus, we are proud to be an American moving and storage company. Concerned participants in the communities in which we live and work, we are not only premier movers in Colorado but grateful citizens of a great country. Every day, US military soldiers come back from various assignments all over the globe. They have trained to dutifully and selflessly serve our country and to defend the freedoms we take advantage of daily.

The military is an amazing place to learn about hard work, discipline and focus. We feel these attributes along with an overriding spirit of loyalty are just a few of the traits that make our company so successful. We currently have the wonderful opportunity to expand our organization. In an effort to support these fine men and women, Exodus has become increasingly committed to hiring veterans to be a part of our team. Over the next couple of years of our expansion, we plan to hire 25-300 new employees with an emphasis of up to 70% being those who have previously served in our military.

Hire Patriots, Colorado

Originally founded to support Marines who had returned from war to find financial and personal hardship of all kinds, this organization started out with a truly grass roots beginning. In 2004  Mark and Tori Baird had a vision of creating a network that would bring much needed resources to veterans who were attempting to transition back into civilian life. In response to a need they saw and felt must be addressed, they sold their house and used the proceeds to build what is now known as Hire Patriots. This 501C3 web-based support medium has grown in leaps and bounds and is now one of the largest networks for transitional military support in the US.

Colorado Hire Patriots focuses on all aspects of re-assimilation into everyday life back at home. This includes not only the practical financial aspects but the emotional ones as well.  Creating a forum for day job and full time work placements through job boards, listings and job fairs as well as marriage retreats and trauma support resources is just the beginning of the work done by this organization. At Exodus, we are proud to partner with them not only through the direct hire of veterans but to extend our volunteer hours and word of mouth support to their worthwhile events.  In cooperation with this organization in addition to the Rocky Mountain Veterans Alliance and the SEAKR Foundation, we are excited to be a part of making a positive impact towards the promotion of patriotism in our community.

Fresh Place Fridays- Moving to Boulder Colorado

At Exodus, we are happy to be premier Colorado movers. Because of this we get to see so many wonderful parts of our state. In a continued effort to showcase the beauty offered by this place, this week we are highlighting a city in Colorado that some people call, “the city nestled between the mountains and reality.” It’s a unique place that continually ranks highly in various national studies that cover a multitude of things that people look for when they want to create a happy and fulfilled life. This area is renowned for combining its outdoor recreation offerings with a myriad of metropolitan opportunities.

Our Fresh Place Friday this week is all about Boulder Colorado.

Location

Just off highway 36, Boulder Colorado sits 5,430 feet above sea level. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, the city is primed for outdoor adventures of all kinds and the main area spans just over 25 square miles. With 300 miles of hiking and biking trails flourishing beyond the hustle of the center and an estimated 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s no wonder why so many people flock to this city for some action packed open air experiences. Add to this rock climbing, skiing and fly fishing and you have a nature lovers paradise.

History

The Southern Arapaho Indian tribe were the first people known to inhabit what is now called Boulder. In 1861, when Colorado became its own territory, the city of Boulder began to grow as a result of the miners who would set up base at the foot of the mountains before going hiking in to search for gold. Seeing a need to build stores, lodging, restaurants and bars to support this new influx of fast fortune hopefuls, Boulder rapidly developed. With the eventual completion of a functional highway to Denver, the city of Boulder has now grown to over 100,000 residents.

Boulderites

Because of its location and history, the city of Boulder has developed a very unique personality. The people enjoy fantastic food and shopping, art, music and theater as well as award winning spas. In 2010 Portfolio.com voted Boulder the “Brainiest City in America.” Bon Appetite Magazine voted it the “Foodiest” town in the US last October and in 2009 Forbes Magazine voted it the best place in the country to “Live Well In”. Known for personal health consciousness, committed to waste reduction and supporting a vast amount of fine microbreweries, Boulderites are happy to have you come for a visit or even make the move to Boulder.

Valuing Feedback

After every move Exodus Moving & Storage completes, we will request your input about your moving experience with us. Continuous improvement is the hallmark of our success as a company and we are always anxious to get your feedback on how well we did our moving job.
