How to Pack for a Move
Before you call your Boulder moving company, you’ll want to start packing the things that you own to prepare for your upcoming move. Packing can be tricky, but packing the right way can make moving and unpacking a whole lot simpler.
Room by Room
In order to avoid overwhelming yourself with too many things and too many boxes at once, begin packing for a move starting with one room. Choose the room that you use the least, and work your way towards the rooms that you use the most. For example, you may want to begin with storage closets, and pack up your kitchen items last.
Label Each Box
One of the biggest mistakes that most people make while moving is not labeling each box. Write down the name of the room where the box will go, so that your Loveland movers know exactly where to place each box once they arrive at your new home. Having boxes placed in the right room makes it a lot simpler to unpack and put stuff away.
Keep Things Together
Most of us have pictures on walls and things like screws that go into bed frames. Removing the photos from your walls, and taping the nails used to hang those photos to the actual frame will save you a lot of time and effort when you arrive at your new home. The same goes for anything like a bed frame – tape screws and other hardware to the frame, so that you aren’t looking endlessly for those items once you arrive in your new home.
Take Care When Packing
Fragile items should be packed in tissue, paper towels, or bubble wrap to avoid breakage. Once wrapped, those items should be placed in a box marked “fragile,” so that your movers know how to handle the box.
Move Clothes Together
Hanging clothes can be moved in a bunch. Instead of removing items from hangers, folding, and packing those things in boxes, simply leave the items on the hangers and wrap them all together using plastic wrap. This way, the hangers will remain on the clothes, and you can simply hang them up in a closet once you arrive at your new home — no messing around with unfolding and hanging!
Consider a Cleaning Crew
You’ll want your new home to be nice and clean when you move in, and this may require some professional hands. Think about calling a cleaning crew to thoroughly clean your new place before you move in — and to clean your old place once you move out. Enlisting the help of professional cleaners can save you a lot of time.
