Groundhog’s Day: Colorado Movers Style

This week, our Colorado movers took to Facebook to ask whether or not people are hoping the Groundhog sees his shadow this Thursday.  While we can’t give a definitive answer as to whether or not we’re crossing our fingers for the Spring (which we are), we can certainly take this Wednesday to post about some of the awesome events that take place in the state of Colorado for this holiday.

First up we have Aurora, Colorado. This Colorado town is home to Stormy Marmot, Colorado’s very own Groundhog’s Day groundhog, who makes the trip out into the fresh Colorado day to either observe his shadow or see nothing at all. While for years Stormy Marmot has been disagree with famous “Punxsutawney Phil” of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, plenty of locals still believe in Stormy’s psychic powers to come out and witness the event!

Durango, Colorado also hosts a Tug-o-War match where two teams are pitted against each other to find out what season will reign supreme. The “6 More Weeks of Winter” Team consists of those snow enthusiasts who aren’t quite ready to give up their powder time vs. the “Early Spring” Team full of locals who are ready to get back to hiking, biking and fishing. Choose your favorite and come out to help your team!

For us as Colorado movers, it doesn’t matter whether the groundhog sees his shadow or not because we’ll just keep on moving! Make sure you check us out on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all our other great Colorado moving tips as well as fun things going on in the state of Colorado!
