Fresh Place Friday: Greeley, Colorado

This Fresh Place Friday brings us to Greeley, Colorado.  Greeley is home to Northern Colorado University and the Greeley Stampede – an annual country fair & rodeo that bring some of the biggest names in country to the stage.  Greeley has been dubbed by Sports Illustrated as having one of the best parks & recreation programs in the nation because of the many parks and sports complexes that abound.  It is also a great place to retire as named by Where to Retire magazine.

Greeley is located in the epicenter of Northern Colorado and close to so many places and things to do.  An hour in any direction and there are amazing things to do.  Located an hour to the west are the Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountain National Park.  An hour to the south and you are in the capital city of Denver.  An hour to the north you are in the state of Wyoming.  An hour to the east and you are in Kansas and/or Nebraska.

Few people know that Greeley was one of the first planned communities in the United States and is named after Horace Greeley who dubbed the phrase “Go West, young man, go West.”
