Explore the Great Outdoors of Colorado
Today when we took to Facebook to ask our weekly poll question, we asked the followers of our Colorado and Denver moving company to tell us whether they considered themselves indoor people or the outdoors-y type. As a moving company in Colorado, Exodus offers storage options and other weather-proofed services but the majority of us just love the great outdoors and if you consider yourself one of these people, then this blog is for you!
Colorado is filled with one of the longest lists of things to do in the open air. With so many people moving to Denver and Colorado for our four complete seasons, there is nothing that cannot take part in at SOME point in the year. Since we are Colorado movers, we might be a tad biased but, seriously, Colorado is the BEST place to live and here are 20 outdoor activities to explain why:
Summer:
- Attend a concert at Red Rocks in Denver, CO
- Watch the sunset or sunrise from the mountain crest of your choice
- Explore and touch dinosaur tracks at Picketwire Canyonlands on the Comanche National Grasslands south of La Junta, CO
- Rent a boat (or bring your own) and go water skiing, wake boarding or tubing in the reservoirs of the Colorado state parks
- Check out a number of festivals like the Blues and Brews Festival in Telluride, CO
- Visit the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO for a truly amazing experience
Fall:
- Check out the old-fashioned Lake Side Amusement Park in Denver, CO
- Take a dip in in the hot springs at Strawberry Park near Steamboat Springs, CO
- Grab a cup of hot chocolate and listen to the Elk bugle in the Rocky Mountain National Park
- Take a jeep tour (or white-knuckle it yourself) at Independence Pass between Leadville, CO and Aspen, CO
- Take a scenic train ride (the soul of Colorado) on the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad in Antonito, CO, the Georgetown Loop narrow gauge line or the Durango & Silverton (which becomes the Polar Express in the winter!)
Spring:
- Explore the amazing Mesa Verde in Cortez, CO
- Hike to the top of the peaks of the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Mosca, CO
- Go fly-fishing on the Animas River (or any river for that matter!)
- Raft the Arkansas River with Class 5 Rapids (or go for a leisurely float if you’re not looking to lose your lunch from the thrill)
- Walk the suspension bridge of the Royal Gorge from end to end in Canon City, CO
Winter:
- Ice skating on Evergreen Lake in Denver, CO
