How to Clean Your Oven
When you move into a new apartment, the hope is that you will have all new appliances that are clean and look great. But that’s often far from being the actual case. More often than not, landlords try and find the cheapest appliance option, and that can mean an oven that’s far from being clean. The other possibility is that you may move into a place where the last renters weren’t the cleanest folks, and that might mean that you now have a very dirty oven to work with.
If you need some help cleaning up your oven, here are some of our best tips – take it from a Denver moving company with a lot of experience, we’ve seen a lot of really dirty ovens!
How to Get Rid of the Gunk
You can buy oven cleaner that’s full of really toxic chemicals, but there are other ways to go about cleaning the gunk out of an oven.
- Make a thick rub of baking soda and water.
- Slather the rub all over the inside of your oven, and let this sit overnight.
- The next morning, remove all of the rub with a scrubbing sponge or dry towel.
- Use a wet towel to get rid of the excess baking soda scrub.
- Fill a spray bottle with vinegar.
- Spray the vinegar inside of your oven, and wipe that off with some paper towels.
After this process, you should have a completely clean oven.
The Oven Racks
As far as the racks go, these will need special treatment, and you have two good options.
Option 1: you can put your oven racks in your dishwasher, and start the cycle. If your dishwasher can accommodate the racks, you should have clean oven racks in no time.
Option 2: you can soak your racks in your bathtub by adding some dishwashing liquid to your tub, letting the racks soak, and then scrubbing the racks after a good soak.
Both methods should leave you with cleaner oven racks, and this will mean a cleaner oven all around.
