In our post earlier this week we were excited to announce one of our newest national certifications indicating the values we strive to uphold here at Exodus. Being Choose People certified means that we have been tested in 8 different categories in an effort to quantify how we treat our employees. By receiving this honor, we are proud to be recognized as a place where employees thrive and are happy to come to work. As an organization with one of the lowest employee turnovers in our industry in the whole country, we are excited that those who work for us feel like family.
Who Needs Choose People
Choose People has created their national certification program to benefit all parts of the business cycle including companies, employees and consumers. By impacting all human capital in this cycle, the positive effect on the community is a natural result. But who specifically should be interested in working with Choose People? The list starts at the very highest level and ends with the most basic user.
Investors & Business Leaders- Those looking to put their money into the development of a company will select a company over its competition that keeps its employees happy and has low employee turnover. Generally a place with happy, productive employees also provides a solid and positive bottom line.
Marketers- It is well known that leveraging your human capitol and the positive work environment can bring strength to a brand. When marketers are highlighting what separates one company from the next, this certification can be a valued addition.
HR Departments & Employees- Employee retention makes human resources more about enriching the lives of its current employees and less about hiring new ones. Choose People certification can increase moral and a sense of company pride. Conversely, when it does come time to hire new employees, this certification can aid in recruitment by serving as a sign to good people that good jobs are available in a good company.
Consumers- Choose People certification gives conscientious consumers the ability to reward companies that care about their employees. By using their buying power to support these organizations, the public can contribute to general positivity in the community at large.
“Community Involvement” can sometimes function as a vanity. Companies who are seeking good public relations will plaster this phrase, among others, in order to achieve trust with current and prospective clients. But at Exodus we believe that integrity is the basis for our success. When we say that we are committed to improving our community it’s because we actually are.
Beyond our neighborhoods, we are also committed to our great country. After all, it is the United States of America that allows us the opportunity and the freedom to create and uphold our beliefs within a professional business context. And as we grow, we are always looking for ways to say thank you. We search for people who have a sense of both the immediate and the larger community context. We look for team members who understand that they can and do impact our world one day, one action, one person at a time. We search for those not afraid to work hard and to stand behind the individual value that they bring to our Exodus family.
Happy to be highlighted by the “Voice of Aurora Colorado,” The Aurora Sentinel recently wrote an article about our new Operations and Facilities manager, Danny Moore. A 17 year military veteran, he found our job posting through Hire Patriots Colorado, http://colorado.hirepatriots.com ,an organization we are very proud to partner with. One of the first of hopefully many, we have been fortunate to have someone as talented, capable and focused as Danny join our team.
As a result of careful attention to detail, strategic planning and unsurpassed personalized service, Exodus Moving and Storage has been growing in leaps and bounds over the past several years. From our humble beginnings with a single truck and a dream to becoming a preferred mover of the US Department of Defense, we have come a long way over time. Some may wonder as to the reason for our growth. The simple truth is this: we work harder than any other Colorado based moving company to earn the respect of both our customers and our community.
One of the main things that sets Exodus apart is our staff. Many moving and storage companies have a reputation for being “fly-by-night.” Temporary hires and freelance outsourcing plagues our industry and sets a low standard in general with reference to quality and accountability. But at Exodus, we only use hired staff-that is to say we only let people interact with your move that we put our faith in enough to put on our payroll.
There are many things that we look for when we hire employees. Moving can be an incredibly labor intensive job. We strive to only hire those with the focused mindset, strength, detail oriented nature and strong work ethic that mirrors our commitment to complete customer satisfaction. And at the end of the day, we find that veterans of the United States military consistently personify these valued character traits. For this reason, among others, we have teamed up with Colorado Hire Patriots to aggressively pursue filling the job openings that are being offered by our growth to the men and women who have faithfully served this country in the field and are now looking to serve here at home.
Check out our latest video explaining our philosophy about hiring patriots.
At Exodus, we are proud to be an American moving and storage company. Concerned participants in the communities in which we live and work, we are not only premier movers in Colorado but grateful citizens of a great country. Every day, US military soldiers come back from various assignments all over the globe. They have trained to dutifully and selflessly serve our country and to defend the freedoms we take advantage of daily.
The military is an amazing place to learn about hard work, discipline and focus. We feel these attributes along with an overriding spirit of loyalty are just a few of the traits that make our company so successful. We currently have the wonderful opportunity to expand our organization. In an effort to support these fine men and women, Exodus has become increasingly committed to hiring veterans to be a part of our team. Over the next couple of years of our expansion, we plan to hire 25-300 new employees with an emphasis of up to 70% being those who have previously served in our military.
Hire Patriots, Colorado
Originally founded to support Marines who had returned from war to find financial and personal hardship of all kinds, this organization started out with a truly grass roots beginning. In 2004 Mark and Tori Baird had a vision of creating a network that would bring much needed resources to veterans who were attempting to transition back into civilian life. In response to a need they saw and felt must be addressed, they sold their house and used the proceeds to build what is now known as Hire Patriots. This 501C3 web-based support medium has grown in leaps and bounds and is now one of the largest networks for transitional military support in the US.
Colorado Hire Patriots focuses on all aspects of re-assimilation into everyday life back at home. This includes not only the practical financial aspects but the emotional ones as well. Creating a forum for day job and full time work placements through job boards, listings and job fairs as well as marriage retreats and trauma support resources is just the beginning of the work done by this organization. At Exodus, we are proud to partner with them not only through the direct hire of veterans but to extend our volunteer hours and word of mouth support to their worthwhile events. In cooperation with this organization in addition to the Rocky Mountain Veterans Alliance and the SEAKR Foundation, we are excited to be a part of making a positive impact towards the promotion of patriotism in our community.
On October 8, 2010 at the Curtis Hotel in Denver, Exodus Moving and Storage presented the first annual SEAKR foundation gala. An evening of fine food & wine, silent auction, music and inspirational guest speakers, the night was a remarkable success. We were amazed at the support given to us by the community, the mayor’s office and the many local businesses that backed the families of fallen soldiers here in Colorado.
Because of the dedication of the caring businesses and individuals involved in this event, we were able to raise more than $15,000 for these families in need. And the best part is that the donations keep rolling in! As a result of these community efforts, we have been able to reach out to a family that desperately needed our help and save them from homelessness. We are currently evaluating new military families for what we can do to make them part of the SEAKR family. We learned a lot from our first event and we are looking forward to our next one where our hope is to raise more than $50,000 and add two new families to the SEAKR beneficiary list.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this important evening possible and we look forward to seeing more of our friends, customers and family at the 2nd Annual SEAKR event next October.
The Exodus Team
There is nothing casual about the casualties of war. And when a soldier gives their life for their country, there is surely no greater a sacrifice. But as those left behind attempt to recover emotionally from such a loss, often they are also plagued by the practical difficulties of financial turmoil. While the military attempts to supplement this monetary loss, very often, these payments come up short leaving grieving families with nowhere to turn.
That’s why we support SEAKR.
The SEAKR Foundation is a unique, private non-profit organization dedicated to supporting military families whose spouse or parent was killed in action while serving our country.
On October 8, 2010 the SEAKR Foundation is holding their annual dinner and silent auction to raise awareness and funds. With a fantastic cause and program, we will celebrate the induction of 5 new Colorado families now supported by the SEAKR Foundation.
